The Palestra Furla, historical gym in the very heart of the Italian town of Bologna, will host the 12th edition of the International Youth Tournament DAIMILOPTU from the 24th to the 27th of April 2014.
This year edition of the tournament will feature players born in 1999 and 200 and will see a total of sixteen European teams.
As in the past editions, DAIMILOPTU will involve players on and off the court as well because each Italian player will host in his house a member of a foreign team.
The motto of DAIMILOPTU is in fact “Gioca chi ospita” (literally, who hosts plays), a slogan that summarizes the desire of Marco Mezzetti, the creator of the tournament, to make DAIMILOPTU an unforgettable experience for participating kids both on and off the court.
Winners of past editions saw Italian teams (Fortitudo Bologna, Pallacanestro Moncalieri, Azzurra Trieste, BSL San Lazzaro) and former-Yugoslavia teams (KK Boox Kragujevac, KK Drazen Petrovic Sibenk, KK Falcons Tuzla, OKK Kruscevac, KK Sumadija Kragujevac, KK Split).
Among notable players of past editions, worth of mentioning are Serbian forward/center Dejan Musli from Kragujevac, Slovakian pointguard Simon Krajcovic from Bystrica and Croatian standout forward Dragan Bender who was in Bologna twice, winning a first prize in 2009 as the most promising young player while playing for his hometown team of Capljina and being awarded the MVP trophy in 2012 leading his new team KK Split to the tournament win.
